Some if not most, people have a hard time in finding the best insurance for them. Always have the time to consider what activities you are going to do during your trip to make sure if your insurance will have it covered. Think if you are going to do dangerous activities such as scuba diving or bungee jumping. Some insurance companies don’t like this kind of activities because it will cost them too much money.
Always make sure that you are covered enough for whatever may happen. Some medical expenses are expensive in other countries. Make sure that you are covered for such predicaments. And the most important thing to remember is that you are covered for the whole duration of your trip. Who knows what might happen?

Why do you really need to consider purchase a travel insurance?
1. Some trips are planned for a year in advance. It gives ample time for a catastrophe to happen.
2. We sometimes tend to plan trips that are expensive. Always determine the portion of the non-refundable expenses that you will lose in any case you need to return home in the middle of your trip.
3. A honeymoon trip can involve an airline trip and a cruise around the Bahamas. It is always good to ask if missing a significant flight could mean missing a cruise ship departure.
4. Any change in a package deal can also mean a change in the over-all price of the trip.

Why do travelers need emergency medical evacuation insurance? For example, you are relaxing in a well-deserved vacation break after pleading long and hard to your boss. Suddenly, disaster strikes. You are quickly rushed to another place because the area does not have a medical facility. You might need an ambulance or helicopter to transport you to immediate care. Worse, you might need extraterrestrial aid, such as a private air ambulance or a block of seats on a commercial flight with room enough for medical equipment and an attendant. How is one to pay for all these expenses? So you see, emergency medical evacuation insurances are imperative for any traveler who wants to be on the cautious side.

The ultimate question you ask yourself after you have finalized all those plans and itineraries, is, “Do I need travel insurance, and whatwill the coverage be?” Most people do not know is that travel insurance may be bought ntil 24 hours before your departure. Of course, if you have pre-existing medical conditions, you should not have to wait 24 hours before buying a travel insurance. In this case you need to buy your travel insurance as early as when you make a deposit to your trip. Some plans cover pre-existing medical conditions if insurance is bought within 10-15 days from when a traveler paid the amount in full or made a deposit. You ay also buy insurance for coverage against terrorism at departure or destination, including financial default of travel provider. Take note that once you buy your insurance after the 10 to 15 day window you will still have coverage in case a medical emergency occurs. Those not covered are those that are incurred from your pre-existing medical conditions, a broad term. It affects not just the parties who are traveling. It also affects immediate family members, say if you have an immediate family member who is ill, you may be able to cancel your trip in case your family member gets worse or passes away unexpectedly.

It’s called short term because the coverage period may be anywhere from 5 days to 3 years. Medical coverage includes doctor’s consultations, intensive care, emergency room services, hospitalization, emergency medical evacuation and repatriation and coverage for accidental death and dismemberment. If your trip involves activities such as jet skiing, scuba diving, mountaineering, etc., you may also need to add a hazardous sports or extreme sports rider. Check which companies offer insurance plans that will cover health care expenses incurred overseas including emergency services such as medical evacuations.
